2021 St Petersburg Results

From the Team Manager

“St. Petersburg is a tough place for USF2000 Series rookies!  Minimal practice, burly concrete walls, lots of other hungry rookie drivers and even hungrier veteran drivers make this weekend one of the toughest of the year. Spike was up to the challenge and drove like a veteran all weekend with two solid sixth place finishes and leaving as the highest placed rookie in the points at 7th overall. Evan had an admittedly tough weekend getting tagged from behind in the lap one, turn one scramble which resulted in a race 1 DNF.  In race 2, Evan was determined to bring the car home clean and drove a smart and determined race to do just that. The entire team is really excited about heading to Indy and I think we will see both drivers moving up the charts.”

Qualifying #1: 11th | 01:12.7596 (+0.7709)
Race #1: 6th (+4.7464)
Qualifying #2: 8th | 01:12.4551 (+0.3711)
Race #2: 6th (+4.2496)

“What an interesting track this was. The race track is year-round roads in downtown with manholes and crests in the road. The track is also part of an airstrip as the straightaway part of the track. With how little practice I got due to having only 1 practice session I was going in skeptical of how my performance would be. In both races, I worked my way up to the front. I also was the overall highest points scoring rookie of the weekend! Finishing both races in 6th place helped me secure good points. I’m glad to have this track over with and I’m looking forward to the two races in Indy. Once again thanks to everyone who came and watched, I’m now super excited to see tons of fans at these upcoming races.”

“There was lots of things to take away from the St. Pete Grand Prix, lots of things learned. For example, how to drive on a circuit that changes grip so much during the day. Although the weekend didn’t go as smooth as we hoped, everyone has a bumpy weekend now and again, the important thing is I gained a bunch of more experience that will prepare me for the triple header at IMS.”
